Happy Birthday, Dr. Rosser! 

Tolton RosserJuly 29th, 2022 was the 90th birthday of Dr. Tolton Rosser, conductor of the Birmingham Heritage Band and 1982 inductee into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. Rosser was a 1976 founding member of the Heritage Band, and serves on the board of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. This 2019 profile of Dr. Rosser from Alabama A&M University recounts the Birmingham native’s introduction to the fields of music and education, which he has served ever since.

Fourth Ave. Jazz Fest Returns

The Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival is returning to our historic district this August. Created by the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 2003, the 19th festival will return August 27, following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Managed by Urban Impact, the event will feature multiple musical performances, food and craft vendors, and more.
