The Brass Funkys EP ‘More Is More’ Out Now

Following a busy festival season, the high-impact, cutting-edge collective The Brass Funkeys has released their brand new EP ‘More Is More’. Having taken a plethora of festival stages by storm including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown, Wilderness, Lost Village and many others, followed by a headline show at The Rich Mix in London and forthcoming gigs at Cambridge Junction, Hare & Hounds in Birmingham and Thekla in Bristol, these ‘go to’ party starters  continue to bring their unique take on the New Orleans marching band legacy to audiences across the UK.

With a diverse repertoire covering a plethora of genres born out of their members’ genuinely eclectic tastes, The Brass Funkeys are consistently exploring new musical directions while refining their exciting, eclectic and energetic live show, bursting at the seams with ideas and infectious energy. Now with their new music they plan to build on their already formidable reputation as one of the UK’s premier brass outfits.

After the cancellation of dozens of live dates in 2020, The Brass Funkeys did not take lockdown lying down, instead embarking on an ambitious project to release four EPs to catalogue the band’s journey. ‘Crunch’ (2020), showcases original material exploring a new genre: #ThrashBrass, while ‘Live at Cambridge Junction’ (2021) features their high-energy stage show. ‘Ruin’ (2021) celebrates irreverent brass-led covers, from girl band hits to heavy metal headbangers and hip hop classics. On their new EP ‘More Is More’, the collective explore a new concept, as trombone player Tom Green explains: “we have so many diverse personalities and interests within the collective, we wanted to distil all these influences onto an EP that pushes the boundaries of what people think of as brass band music, while still holding true to its New Orleans roots”.
